I have almost 3 years of customer files that I cannot access, but still appear to be in the File Manager. Is there anything that can be done to repair the damage and give me access to my files? I am at a Managed WordPress Site hosted by GoDaddy. GoDaddy "elected" to rebuild my WP Core, then had their “Premium Team” import my data base. It did not work, I am told there are now no tables. My site has now been down for close to a month.
Nothing appears to be there, yet when I look at my WP File Manager plug-in all the data is there, but not integrated into the site. When we tried to back up what we could see in the File Manager, we could not get in, we were told that the DNS was pointed to another server, and they (GoDaddy) had been backing up another site? Once the IP address was changed we (My tech and I) were able to do the back up. GoDaddy had no backups of my site, not even in their personal “Disaster” storage.
Today, GoDaddy did an automatic WP Update to 4.7.5, all of my plugins are compatible up to 4.7.4. Do I try to Update everything at this point? Would there be a chance that this would restore my site?
So sorry to hear you're having issues with GoDaddy's Managed WordPress platform. This is unusual for them, and it sounds like you've done all you can to work with them to restore your missing data.
You shouldn't have any trouble updating your plugins, and it won't have any effect on your data. If there are updates available for your plugins, I'd recommend you update them right away.
As for restoring your site, it sounds like there is a major issue with your database. If anyone can help you restore that data, it's the GoDaddy support team.
Wish I could do more to help!
Shawn
Once again thank you for your help. Three weeks ago you said work with Go Daddy, that was my best bet. In three weeks Go Daddy has destroyed my Site. Now you say they can restore my data. That will only happen if they bring in a Data Recovery team. If not it is lost. On May 15th, their CEO team worked exclusively on my “Problem”. Part of that time was spent to see if they could blame Word Press for what they had done. The rest of the time was spent trying to establish what their exposure was…Not in trying to restore my site to what it was before they “fixed it”. Now in checking with my mailing list and the subscribers to the magazine I write for, I am finding that I am not the only one with “Go Daddy” problems. I realize that Word Press needs Go Daddy more than you need me, but please be honest in your evaluation. I relied on Go Daddy. I was not the knowledgeable one. I was told that if what they did , did not work, they would be accountable. I have lost a lot of money, my web Site has been destroyed. my customers cannot access the videos that they paid for…all because the Go Daddy techs did not know what they were doing. I came to this Forum asking for help not sympathy. I expected an honest answer, one that might send me to an expert…Not back to Go Daddy.
If it’s another expert you want, and not GoDaddy, have you attempted to contact the WordPress experts at Codeable? They’re perfect for all sorts of advanced tasks, and very reasonably priced. You can start right here: https://wp101.com/help/
Honestly, I’ve never seen an issue like you’re describing, and I’ve hosted more than a hundred WordPress sites for clients on many, many hosts — including GoDaddy, but certainly not limited to them. You’ll also notice that this site is hosted on LiquidWeb. While GoDaddy is great for new sites where budget is the primary concern, I recommend either Nexcess or WP Engine for mission-critical sites like yours. It’s precisely in situations like this when you need a true managed hosting partner.

I would suggest you post this issue to WordPress Help and Share Facebook site. They have a lot of experienced people willing to help others.
