Hi there. I’m a new member to WP101. What’s the first step? Which course should I start with? Thanks!
First of all, welcome to WP101!
You should have received a welcome email, which suggests where to start. But nearly everyone who joins WP101 begins with our most popular course… WordPress 101.
That course covers all the fundamentals of how to use WordPress. Without a foundational understanding of WordPress, you’ll have a hard time with more advanced topics.
Each video tutorial builds on concepts from the one before. So, we recommend that you watch the videos in order. But you’re more than welcome to pick and choose, and when you need a break, just pause and then pick up right where you left off.
Be sure to mark each video lesson as complete before moving on to the next video lesson. When you’ve completed every lesson, you’ll earn a badge and certificate of completion.
Choosing which course to take next will largely depend on what you’re most interested in learning, or the type of site(s) you’re trying to build.
If you plan to build a blog or business site, you might look at the Jetpack course, because that all-in-one plugin includes dozens of features you’ll likely want to include in just about any type of site.
If you plan to sell products on your site, you’ll want to take the WooCommerce course. It’s by far the most popular ecommerce plugin for WordPress, and we created the official video tutorials for that plugin.
Joe Casabona’s Introduction to Gutenberg course takes a deeper look at how to build beautiful page layouts using the new Block Editor.
Of course, just about every site requires a form of some kind. Whether it’s just a simple contact form, a sign-up form that enables your visitors to subscribe to email updates, or more complex forms like event registrations or dynamic quote request forms, Ninja Forms enables you to create just about any type of form you’ll ever need. So that course may be a solid next step.
You can’t really go wrong by choosing any of these courses.
You’ll find a list of all of our courses on this page, or by simply clicking, “WordPress Tutorials” in the menu at the top of every page.
Hope this helps, but if you have any further questions, please feel free to follow up anytime!
