WP101 for GoDaddy and Media Temple Customers

March 19, 2018

Our WordPress 101 videos are now available to both GoDaddy and Media Temple customers!

These exciting new partnerships have been several months in the making. But starting today, customers of GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress hosting and Media Temple’s Managed WordPress Hosting can watch our 20-part “WordPress 101” video tutorial series directly within their own WordPress dashboard.

Of course, all our other videos — including those we have planned for the future — will continue to be be released right here on this site, exclusively for our members.

Our goal is to provide basic WordPress training to as many people as possible, and these two strategic partnerships are a huge step toward fulfilling that goal.

Why GoDaddy?

Several months ago, my good friend, Cody Landefeld introduced me to Jeff King, head of GoDaddy’s hosting operations. From our very first conversation, I was struck by Jeff’s transparency as he admitted to the challenges they faced in turning around GoDaddy’s reputation. I was pleasantly surprised as Jeff shared the new vision being laid out by GoDaddy’s new CEO, Blake Irving.

BTW, In case you hadn’t heard, Bob Parsons, GoDaddy’s founder — the man best known for his controversial advertising campaigns featuring women in provocative clothing — resigned from the company in June of this year.

A New GoDaddy?

If you’re like me, you may have had less-than-stellar — if not downright awful — experiences with GoDaddy’s hosting and support in years past. Plenty of folks are quick to share their own story of why they hate GoDaddy.

My friend, Chris Lema, recently wrote about the challenges Jeff and his team face in his post, “Turning around GoDaddy – the company we love to hate.”

But over the past several months, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Jeff and his stellar team, and I can tell you that I’ve been consistently impressed at every turn.

In addition to the amazing and talented people, their new Managed WordPress hosting platform is equally impressive.

New Managed WordPress Hosting from GoDaddy

Of course, you get all the ‘standard’ benefits of managed WordPress hosting: automated nightly backups, 24/7 security monitoring, and automatic WordPress updates. But I was most surprised by how blisteringly fast GoDaddy’s new Managed WordPress Hosting is!

As a test, I migrated several of my personal sites, using their simple migration tool. It took just a few minutes to transfer several sites from my current host to GoDaddy. No other host provides a migration tool like this!

During the migration process, they automatically set up a temporary domain for each site. When I confirmed everything was working as expected, it took just a couple of clicks to link my actual domain and make the site live.

Immediately, I noticed how quickly my site loaded. I ran speed tests that confirmed my sites were loading nearly twice as fast as before — while hosted on a much more expensive managed WordPress host.

All this at a price that’s a fraction of what other managed WordPress hosts charge!

If you haven’t looked at GoDaddy’s ridiculously affordable Managed WordPress hosting, you owe it to yourself to check it out today:

    Hey

Congratulations on making that sale as a business, that’s a great achievement.

Just wondering what your thoughts were on Go Daddy placing links to themselves on customers home pages without consent or knowledge from the owners
    David 🙂

      Thanks for the congrats, David.

I host about a dozen sites for friends and family on GoDaddy’s new Managed WordPress Hosting, and none of those sites contain links to GoDaddy. To my knowledge, this is not their practice.

Now, I’ve heard of other hosting companies who do include links to themselves within the footer on promotional sites, e.g. sites that they host for free as part of a promotional giveaway. Honestly, I don’t have a problem with this practice.

But as far as I know, GoDaddy does not place links to themselves on customers’ home pages without their consent.
