Jetpack’s Carousel feature displays your images and galleries in a gorgeous, full-screen browsing experience with comments.
The Carousel feature for Jetpack enhances default WordPress galleries. With Carousel active, when you click on an image in a default WordPress gallery, it will display in a nice, fullscreen gallery that shows the image in a larger format, as well as details on the image and the ability to comment on each photo in the gallery.
The Carousel also allows you to navigate between images.
In order to use Carousel, first create a basic WordPress gallery. You can set it to either open in attachment page or link to media file.
Once you’ve created your basic WordPress photo gallery, go to: Jetpack > Settings and under Appearance, activate Carousel. It may already be activated by default when you install Jetpack.
Now, when you return to your gallery and click on an image, you’ll see the Carousel in action. Each image is displayed in a larger format with details about the image and the ability to comment.
You can customize the Carousel a bit by returning to the Carousel settings and changing the color of the carousel from black to white — as well as determine whether to show Exif metadata about the image — like what camera was used, the aperture, focal length, and shutter speed settings.
It’s important to note that if you have additional gallery plugins installed or your theme has custom galleries added, the Carousel feature may not work. So, if you have issues with Carousel working once activated, try changing the theme to one of the default WordPress themes or deactivating any other gallery plugin photos you may have installed.
